Layouts from Disney, sports, football, baseball, dance, vacations, beach, family fun, and oh, did I mention Disney!?! We are uber Disney World fans, and I spend a lot of time scrapping Disney. I'll never be caught up on my scrapping, but I love working on it :)Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12818438586185554791noreply@blogger.comBlogger82125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1885563964905598239.post-7666372982212764182014-09-11T16:09:00.001-05:002014-09-11T16:10:14.794-05:00Christmas Tags and a Fall cardLife has a way of throwing pretty big changes at us, which in turn pulls us away from doing things we love. This first picture is a massive, deadly tornado that turned my and my family's lives upside down on Nov. 17, 2013.

We lost our home, our cars, and all of our contents (with the exception of one room), but all four climbed safely from our basement where we took shelter with nothing more than cuts and bruises. Thank God for the 3 minutes of warning we had and for keeping us, and thousands of others in our small town safe! Above I mentioned we lost everything we own but the contents of one room . . . Guess which that room was? My scraproom! It was a bedroom in the Southwest corner of the basement, and ironically, had no water lines in the ceiling. My scrapbooks, my supplies, and years and years of family photos were all saved!

I truly miss card making and scrapbooking. 95% of my scrap supplies are in storage while we rebuild our home. I've made a few cards here and there, but haven't done any layouts. I truly hope to be back "home" for the holidays and to spend this winter in my new craftroom!
I came across a couple of pictures today of projects I finished just before the tornado, so thought I would share them. The scarecrow is a copy from something I saw on Pinterest, using the SU Top Note die. Love that die! Oval and round punches for his eyes, pennant punch for his nose, and a hand drawn mouth. He's so cute! Love these people who come up with such great ideas.
For the last several years, I've been making gift tags and packaging them in sets of 10 or 12 for a Christmas fundraiser at our church. They are so fun to make, even when making about 120! I really loved them last year and am hoping to do some new ones next month!

Thanks for viewing. Hopefully I still have some followers after being MIA for so long :)Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12818438586185554791noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1885563964905598239.post-6068789222263097232013-03-25T00:08:00.000-05:002014-09-11T15:20:33.694-05:00Stamp, Chat & Swap - March

I've posted a couple of birthday frames before, and mentioned that I make one each year for my nephew and my niece. Each year, I create the layout to match their birthday party theme. They talk about them, and ask about them, which makes them that much more fun to create!

It couldn't have been more fitting my sweet princess niece. I cut the cupcake from the Simply Sweet cartridge. All paper is Stampin' Up, with the exception of the pink glitter cardstock used on the bottom layer of the tiara. This is for an 8x10 frame.
The 4x4 worked perfectly to get a "4" on the layout. The cuts are from the Father's Day cartridge. All cardstock is Stampin' Up!

I'm working on Christmas layouts so I plan to post some of them soon. Thanks for stopping in again!

I was thrilled with the finished project. This is picture heavy because I'm including a picture for each month. I love that when creating a calendar you get a whole month to display and look at each page of the project!

The spiral calendar I started with (8x8) is from Archiver's, and all of the paper I used is from an Archiver's calendar kit. It is an exceptionally cute stack of paper -- not what you expect when buying something in a kit or stack. There are three sheets of paper for each month: one cardstock and 2 DSP's. One of the DSPs is glitter paper also. If you ever want to make a calendar, check out the DCWV stack from Archiver's. Every page I created with the exception of September was made with the paper from the kit. I used other paper for September because I wanted create a custom page exclusive for our high school colors and mascot, since September is a football month which consumes our household that time of year!
I'll start the auction at a very reasonable price, and will include a BIN price also.

Love is always in the air during February, right? I couldn't help but go traditional, especially since the paper in the kit was embossed and sparkly!
Oops, now that I'm posting the June page, I remember I used SU DSP for June. The kit comes with wedding-ish paper. We are "pool" people, so I wanted to make a layout where I could use a pic from family in the back yard.
A simple October layout, but again, super cute paper in the kit. November, also great paper in the Archiver's DCWV kit, so I added some Cricut cuts and Stampin' Up ribbon.
Finally, we're at December. I guess there are 3 months that I used my own paper! I wanted to use a front from the Christmas cards I made, but paper from the kit didn't match my stamped trees :)

So I hope my calendar gives you an idea for a project or inspires you to play with some paper soon!
Welcome back Disney fans! I feel so fortunate to be invited back for the fourth
time to the Disney Pixar Blog Hop! Thanks, Shawn, for the
opportunity to be part of such a talented team of ladies. It's always such a
fun weekend looking at everyone's Disney projects.

And speaking of Disney, we cruised on Disney's newest ship, the Fantasy, over New Year's, from Dec.
29 through Jan 5. Great vacation, gorgeous ship, and incredible service -- I
highly recommend the Fantasy for a family vacation!

New Year's Eve on the Fantasy was amazing! It's a special day for my hubby and me anyhow because it's our wedding anniversary, so I chose this as the first layout to make for my newest Disney album. The night was so much fun, Disney treated us so well, and the party and entertainment was so memorable! I hope to scrap more Disney cruise layouts in the next few weeks, so please check back.

I also wanted to use (part of) one of the top hats Disney provided, but I couldn't come up with a way to bring it into the layout. I'm anxious to add the photos! Colors are (Stampin' Up) rose red, real red and black. I used the Martha Stewart punch to thread the ribbon down each page, and SU black grosgrain. The words "Cruising" and "New Year" are covered in a healthy layer of Christmas Red stickles. Cartridges: Mickey & Friends, Mickey Font, and Martha Stewart Cake Everyday Occasions.
Well, I'd like you to think I'm already working on 2013 Easter cards, but that would be false ;) I made this card last Easter, to be honest!

Isn't it cute though? I love the look of the "peeps". I couldn't find the right bunny to make a peep on any cricut cartridge, but I did find a good bunny head from one cartridge. So I used just the bunny head and welded it to a circle (Cricut Design Studio), then welded the three "peeps" together. The bunny head may have been from Stretch Your Imagination, I can't remember as it's been so long ago.
As always, the products are all Stampin' Up, Very Vanilla and Rose Red cardstock, ribbon, and DSP. A little embossing, punching the edges, and sponging, and it's complete!

Hoping this gives someone an inspiration for a fun Easter card this Spring!

Happy paper crafting . . . hope you get some time to play this weekend! Kim
Happy New Year everyone! I'm trying to figure out where 2012 went, and we're 1/3 of the way through January 2013 already!

We had a fantastic Christmas, and left for Disney on Dec. 27. We cruised on the new Disney Fantasy for the New Year's Cruise from Dec. 29 - Jan 5. What an amazing ship and and super fun vacation! I wish it didn't have to end :)

Back home now, just in time to put together a layout (or hopefully two) for the upcoming Disney Pixar Blog Hop. I hope you can check out all of the projects on Saturday, January 19 and Sunday, January 20. I am so honored to be part of such a talented group of paper crafters, and so grateful to be invited back to the Disney Pixar Hop for the 5th time! Thanks Shawn and Melissa for having me!

I will post the details when the hop gets closer, but if you want more info now, check out the public facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/135056236643588/
Thanks for stopping in! I've been horrible about posting projects, so I'm trying to get back in it!
Last week, I was finally able to grab a few hours to come up with a thank you card design and mass produce. It felt great! I'm not sure if it felt so great just because I got to play with paper for a few hours, or due to the guilt I had because I hadn't been able to make the thank you cards for my daughter to write and send to friends and family for their generosity following her 8th grade graduation!

My inspiration for this simple Thank You card came from this card on LeeAnn Greff's blog. Never would I have thought to use a circle punch backwards to make the "circle drops", but I think it's just cute! I used solid cardstock, Stampin' Up Pixie Pink, embossed and sponged, DSP with graduation caps and diplomas, and DSP made with our Junior High name and mascot from http://www.laserlinecuts.com/. The school DSP is raised with adhesive squares to give it a bit more pop. I sponged both DSPs with gray. The blue cardstock is from Archivers (I can't remember the name). It matches our school colors the best! Finished the thank you's with Doodle Twine, and self stick gems, and a little more Pixie Pink on the inside. Finished off Junior High now too . . . can't believe both of our kids are now in high school! It's bittersweet ;)

Hoping your summer is great!
My "Full of Character" page is simply a frame made of DSP by cutting a square out of the center. I've been working on these invitations for weeks now, and I'm excited they are finished. You're seeing only a portion of the invitations - I made 100 in total. The invitations are for my DD's 8th grade graduation dinner & dance. I'm so thankful for the 11 very helpful moms/volunteers helping me organize everything!

I used the Chic and Scary cartridge and Cricut Craft Room. A few quick steps in CCR to copy the mask image, flip it, hide contour (eyes), and weld the two masks to make the folded invitations. I played with the size several times to make sure I could get 4 complete invitations on every 12x12 sheet of card stock, which is textured black Bazzill. I used black stickles around the eyes, and a glue gun for all of the feathers.

I then reduced the size of a single mask, hid the eyes again, and cut 100 masks on white, which are the RSVPs. They are stuck inside with a single glue dot, because I'm not using envelopes. Dinner and dance details are printed on self-adhesive vellum, under the RSVP cards.

One more strip of self adhesive vellum on the back of the invitation reads "Choose a mask and wear it well, your true identity no one can tell".

The dinner and dance is at the end of May, so I'm still working on decorations, the dessert buffet, centerpieces, etc. If you have any ideas or Masquerade party tips, please let me know!Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12818438586185554791noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1885563964905598239.post-46968278849223307812012-02-15T21:53:00.002-06:002012-02-15T21:56:14.476-06:00Basketball Means Cheerleading Season
Just starting on scrapbooking our daughter's 8th grade cheer squad season, which came to an end last weekend. Our cheer-io enjoyed the season, even as busy as it was being on both the cheer and dance teams at school, as well as her competitive dance team outside of school, and school volleyball, which is still going on. My inspiration came from Pat's Scraps, and her cute card from a few weeks ago. The card is 5 x 6. The base is Stampin Up! crumb cake, with layers of whisper white, certainly celery, and apricot appeal. The DSP on the stork is also from SU but the other two DSPs are from Archiver's (polka dots and bundle of joy background). Next time I'm close to an Archiver's, I'm hoping to get more. Love this DSP, especially the tan/white polka dot --The texture on it is amazing. I'm using twine whenever possible right now, and I really like using it as an alternative to ribbon (although I love ribbon, too). The bottom of the card is punched with a MS border punch.
Hope you enjoy this card. Thanks for stopping in again. I'm so looking forward to the upcoming weekend as it's our annual Winter Craft Camp weekend. About 20 of us will be at a hotel from 10 AM Friday morning until Sunday afternoon. Lots of scrapping, and even more laughing -- it's such a great thing!
I know we've all moved on from Christmas, which now seems like it was months ago, and I'm finally posting my projects. I firmly believe "better late than never". Ha

I finished composition notebooks and cards for my daughter's 8th grade teachers just in time. It was late into the night (morning) on the last day of school before break, but they were done! Bundled each set of cards to match the composition notebook made for each particular teacher and got them all wrapped in tissue and bagged when I remembered I completely forgot to take pictures. Ugh, it was so late. I let it go, and now, of course, I'm regretting it. *sigh*

I do really like this one, made for the owner of the dance studio my DD does competitive dance for. She loves purple, and the name of the studio is Water Street.

Do you recognize the new Stampin' Up! in color? It's Wisteria Wonder. Not a color I expected to really like, but I LOVE it!

The welded shadow and ribbon is SU certainly celery. Holiday Mini catalog.

The size is perfect for a gift card inside. It's a tight fit, so I used sticky strip on the sides. Everything is from Stampin' Up! - the button, twine, vintage lace, cardstock, stamp, ink, jingle bells - except for the DSP. The mini jingle bells are so cute, but it was an exercise in patience to tie them to the ends of the twine!

There are several blogs showing a baby bootie and witch's boot made from the stocking die also. They are incredibly cute. I'll be making some baby bootie cards soon!

I packaged 12 tags, 6 each of two different designs, in a bag with a topper, and made the topper so it could be used as a gift card holder. I did 4 different tag designs, as I didn't want to go too crazy since I was in "mass production" mode.

All cardstock and stamps used for the tags are from SU. The holly leaf punch shown on the always artichoke cardstock to the left is from Martha Stewart. I can't resist anything with a holly theme. Always Artichoke and Bravo Burgundy are so festive together. The tags to the left are my favorite!

The ornament tags to the right are in Always Artichoke and Riding Hood Red. Sorry the photo isn't better - the glare from the bag is bad.
The season also means Secret Santa gifts, teacher gifts, cheer and dance team coach gifts -- the list can go on and on. I totally enjoy giving gifts, as much as I enjoy receiving them! In the past, the teachers have enjoyed the notebooks and 5 or 6 handmade cards. I worked on composition notebooks this weekend, and this is one of my favorites. Actually, this is probably my all-time favorite. :)

All paper is Stampin' Up! A Peachy Keen "Snowmany Faces" stamp was used to create the snowman's face. I also used a couple of different embossing folders (for the roof and the snowman's body). I'm thrilled with this notebook cover! Let me know what you think too!

Things have been crazy around here, and I just couldn't get to this. Comment #50 is the winner of a set of Cuttlebug embossing folders (Disney, of course), a new set of Cricut markers, and a hand made surprise.

Congratulations to Christina! Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for the sweet comment:
I'm looking forward to the next two days -- 7 of us are spending the weekend here at my house scrapping and making cards. It's going to be fun, with lots of laughing, and hopefully we'll get some craft work done too! :)
You probably arrived from Megan's blog, if not, you should go back and start at the beginning so you're certain not to miss any great projects. I'm so excited to be part of this hop again, and to be among these incredibly talented crafters! Thanks to Shawn and Melissa for the invite again!

I had so much I wanted to include, so it got a little busy and crowded, but this is what was in my head. Hope you like it :) Please leave me a comment. . . Cardstock is all from Stampin' Up! Minnie, Mickey, the train, and the Mickey Ears/Heads are all from Mickey and Friends cartridge. It's really hard to tell, but "transportation" is on dimensionals, as well as the monorail, Minnie, Mickey, the the pictures. The boat is from Stand & Salute, the bus is from Summer Vacation, and the monorail is from Going Places. The letters spelling "transportation" were cut using the all-time favorite Mickey Font.
