16 and Driving

Wow!  Our babies do grow up so fast.  DS got his driver's license in December, but it just doesn't seem possible.  I'm a bag of nerves every time he leaves home, so looking forward to the day when I don't worry quite as much.

It was fun creating a new driver's license layout, although the pictures taken at the driver's facility are "gone".  They were on my sons's phone.  He emailed them to me, then deleted them from his phone, and I must have accidentally deleted them from my email.  Ugh.  Not happy with myself over this, so I focused on his new truck for the layout instead.

The road and street signs are from the Disney Cars cartridge.  The key and 'clicker' are from Locker Talk.  The license plate frame is from Mickey and Friends, the state cut is from 50 States, and
'Illinois' is welded from Lyrical Letters. DSP and cardstock are Stampin' Up!. 

This layout was also my entry for the next round on the Practical Scrapper challenge, but I didn't make the last cut from 80 layouts down to 25 :(.   Oh well, no free prizes for me this time, but it motivated me to get to work in my scrap room, which is good!  Thanks to everyone who voted for me!

Finally posting Christmas projects

Let's call it a combination of things being crazy around here, and me being a bit lazy. I know we've all moved on from Christmas, which now seems like it was months ago, and I'm finally posting my projects.  I firmly believe "better late than never".  Ha

I finished composition notebooks and cards for my daughter's 8th grade teachers just in time.  It was late into the night (morning) on the last day of school before break, but they were done!  Bundled each set of cards to match the composition notebook made for each particular teacher and got them all wrapped in tissue and bagged when I remembered I completely forgot to take pictures.  Ugh, it was so late.  I let it go, and now, of course, I'm regretting it.  *sigh*

This is a notebook I made a few days earlier.  I do really like this one, made for the owner of the dance studio my DD does competitive dance for.  She loves purple, and the name of the studio is Water Street.  

Do you recognize the new Stampin' Up! in color?  It's Wisteria Wonder.  Not a color I expected to really like, but I LOVE it!

The welded shadow and ribbon is SU certainly celery.  Here's a closer look at the letters where I used Diamond Stickles.  

Stocking Gift Card Holders

No way to resist the new stocking die from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini catalog. 

The size is perfect for a gift card inside. It's a tight fit, so I used sticky strip on the sides.  Everything is from Stampin' Up!  - the button, twine, vintage lace, cardstock, stamp, ink, jingle bells - except for the DSP.  The mini jingle bells are so cute, but it was an exercise in patience to tie them to the ends of the twine! 

There are several blogs showing a baby bootie and witch's boot made from the stocking die also.  They are incredibly cute.  I'll be making some baby bootie cards soon!  

Gift Tags

Instead of baking for our church's annual  Cookie Walk, I made gift tags this time.  I packaged 12 tags, 6 each of two different designs, in a bag with a topper, and made the topper so it could be used as a gift card holder.  I did 4 different tag designs, as I didn't want to go too crazy since I was in "mass production" mode.    

Once I finished the packaging, I think I liked my toppers better than the tags!  All cardstock and stamps used for the tags are from SU.  The holly leaf punch shown on the always artichoke cardstock to the left is from Martha Stewart.  I can't resist anything with a holly theme.  Always Artichoke and Bravo Burgundy are so festive together.  The tags to the left are my favorite!

The ornament tags to the right are in Always Artichoke and Riding Hood Red.  Sorry the photo isn't better - the glare from the bag is bad. 

And I couldn't resist making traditional snowman tags. Night of Navy and Bashful Blue cardstock (although it looks like white in the picture), watercolors for his scarf and nose, finished with ribbon or twine. 

Fireman Birthday Frame

A few posts back, on the last Disney Pixar Blog Hop, I showed a Minnie Mouse frame layout for my niece's 2nd birthday.  This latest frame layout is for my nephew's 3rd birthday.  I've made them frame layouts for their birthdays each year, matching the party theme.  My nephew's party in May was a "fireman" theme. 

The badge and fireman were cut using Everyday Paper Dolls -- no surprise, I know.  The fire truck is from Boys Will Be Boys.  EDPD had a fire truck also, but I really like the ladder and a few extra details on the truck from the Boys cart. I added eyelets to the center of the wheels, popped up the ladder, the hose, and the wheels, as well as the badge (which came from the policeman page on EDPD).  You probably recognize the cute little fireman's face, and know he's made from Peachy Keen :)  Love her stamps!  Card stock is all SU!, except for the gold metallic used for the badge, and the black swiss dot background, which is Bazzill.  Here are a couple of close-ups too.

Ballet Layout from 2009 Recital

DD spends most of her evenings in the dance studio, so scrapping dance photos is a must!  Purple paper used in this layout is from Hobby Lobby, and I found the grey and white paper on the internet.  Large "pearl" brads are from Oriental Trading, as well as the ribbon.  Silver shimmer paper is from Stampin Up.

Title is cut from Lyrical Letters.

WDW Magic Kingdom Fireworks

Disney fireworks isn't something I would normally scrap, but just felt the need this time.  The upper left corner didn't photograph well.  I found some really fun fireworks paper, very sparkly and glittery.  It's too sparkly to show up good I guess.
