Composition Notebook

I can't believe the holiday season is here again, but I loveit !  The season also means Secret Santa gifts, teacher gifts, cheer and dance team coach gifts -- the list can go on and on.    I totally enjoy giving gifts, as much as I enjoy receiving them!  In the past, the teachers have enjoyed the notebooks and 5 or 6 handmade cards.  I worked on composition notebooks this weekend, and this is one of my favorites.  Actually, this is probably my all-time favorite.  :)

All paper is Stampin' Up!  A Peachy Keen "Snowmany Faces" stamp was used to create the snowman's face.  I also used a couple of different embossing folders (for the roof  and the snowman's body).  I'm thrilled with this notebook cover!  Let me know what you think too!

Have a great week!!!  Kim

Blog Candy Winner

So sorry that I'm just now using Random Drawing to determine the Disney/Pixar blog candy winner!  Things have been crazy around here, and I just couldn't get to this. Comment #50 is the winner of a set of Cuttlebug embossing folders (Disney, of course), a new set of Cricut markers, and a hand made surprise.

Congratulations to Christina!  Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for the sweet comment:

"Great layout! I love that you dressed up the boat and the bus! I looks like it came from the Mickey & friends cartridge!"  By cema1cema

I'm looking forward to the next two days -- 7 of us are spending the weekend here at my house scrapping and making cards.  It's going to be fun, with lots of laughing, and hopefully we'll get some craft work done too!  :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Disney Pixar Blog Hop, Day 2

Thanks for "hopping" in.  You probably arrived from Megan's blog, if not, you should go back and start at the beginning so you're certain not to miss any great projects.  I'm so excited to be part of this hop again, and to be among these incredibly talented crafters! Thanks to Shawn and Melissa for the invite again!

For quite a while now, I've been thinking about creating a layout illustrating the different methods of transportation on Disney property.  I had so much I wanted to include, so it got a little busy and crowded, but this is what was in my head.  Hope you like it :)  Please leave me a comment. . . I love to hear everyone's thoughts!

Cardstock is all from Stampin' Up! Minnie, Mickey, the train, and the Mickey Ears/Heads are all from Mickey and Friends cartridge.  It's really hard to tell, but "transportation" is on dimensionals, as well as the monorail, Minnie, Mickey, the the pictures.  The boat is from Stand & Salute, the bus is from Summer Vacation, and the monorail is from Going Places.  The letters spelling "transportation" were cut using the all-time favorite Mickey Font.

I'm usually not big on stickers, but I did use a few on the bus, the boat, and even one on the train.  I added eyelets to the bus wheels and a couple on the boat too.

To qualify for my personal blog candy, become a follower (if you're not already), and leave a comment.  I'll draw a winner using random.org from the comments on Wednesday, Nov. 23.  Good luck :)

There is a GRAND PRIZE for this weekend's hop, donated by ContainYa Crafts The winner can choose between a Scrap'n Tote or a Scrap'n Easel.  Each blog in this two day hop has a special letter, and when all of the letters are put together they spell out a secret phrase.
My letter is . . . . O
Once you have stopped at each blog in the hop and collected the letters, email the phrase they create to bloghopcontests at gmail dot com.  All entries must be in by Midnight on Monday, November 21st.  The winner will be announced on Tuesday, November 22nd at http://craftychicsblog.blogspot.com/.

Head over to see Bobbi Jo's project next! Below is today's entire hop line-up, just in case you get off track.  Thanks for "hopping" everyone.  Have fun!

Composition Notebooks

When the composition notebooks go on sale for 10 cents, I can't help but buy more!  When a friend was at Target a couple of weeks ago and saw them for .10, she called to see how many I wanted.  An altered composition notebook makes a great teacher gift, or small token for someone at the office, or dance instructors, etc.
Here are just a couple that I've made so far.  I'll post more as I get them finished.

I also finished off the notebook on the right with Stampin' Up! DSP, cardstock, and ribbon.  The sun is cut from Doodlecharms at 4", and stamped with Peachy Keen.  Isn't she adorable???  I used a white gel pen on her eyes.  The banner is made with the new Pennant Punch from Stampin' Up! along with the new Pennant stamp set.  This notebook might be for one of my daughter's cheer coaches.

The notebook here on the left is covered in Urban Garden DSP and Pacific Point cardstock, both from Stampin' Up!.  A few sponged flowers, brads, buttons, half-pearls, and Wild Wasabi ribbon finish it off.  This one couldn't be any simpler.

Thanks for stopping by!

Boyfriend/Girlfriend framed layout

My daughter has been asking for a 12x12 layout of her and her boyfriend for quite a while now, so it was time to get the job done.  They are quite the cute couple, so a cute layout was in order!

No surprise, all cardstock and ribbon is Stampin' Up!, but the DSP is a textured (fun & fuzzy) zebra print that I picked up from HL.  My flower is made from SU punches, then I added a SU button, some SU twine, and a few SU pearls.
"You & me" is cut from the recently released Phrases cartridge, and I added SU clear rhinestones to bling it up a bit.  The heart/X/O and the couple are both cut from Sweethearts cartridge.  If you can see "Brannah" at the bottom of the page, it's the Mickey Font, and is a combination of their names, Braden and Hannah :)  Most important about the layout -- Hannah loves it!

As always, thanks for stopping by.  Love your comments so leave me a few!

Baseball layout for 12x12 frame

My daughter and I worked together to create this single page layout to fit  a 12 x 12 frame.  It was her boyfriend's 15th birthday in September, so this was one of his gifts.  He loves playing baseball, and played over 70 games in 4 states this past summer for the Monster Baseball Club.

The baseball field is cut from the Baseball Solutions cartridge.  I used SU! cardstock, and grass covered DSP.  The letters and numbers are from Varsity Letter (Lite), and all other cuts are from Sports Mania.  Oh, a friend cut the "squiggly" M in Monster for me that she created using SCAL (Thanks Heidi!).  Pitcher's mound, home plate, and the bases are popped up, although you can't tell from the photos.  Lots of ink distressing, just a touch of ribbon, and a few star brads in opposite corners finished the layout.

Clear stamp storage cases

The creative juices were NOT flowing this weekend.  I was trying to work on 12x12 layouts, and nothing was coming together for me, so I started organizing and rearranging my scrap room.

For the most part, I use Stampin' Up! products.  I only have a handful of clear stamps that aren't SU -- 5 or 6 Bellas (how can we resist them?), a few from the Splash Dance line, and 3 sets of Peachy Keen.  I purchased the clear storage cases from SU a while back, just had never taken the time to organize my non-SU stamps.
Once I put the stamps in the cases, I couldn't put them away as they were!  They needed spiced up just a bit, so here's what I ended up doing.  They're pretty basic, but not bad for not having any creativity at the time :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Kim

High School Football layout

You remember that great feeling from high school of beating your biggest rival?  Our oldest is a sophomore now, and going to the same high school as DH and I did.  The same rivalry, between the same two schools, still exists after more than 25 years.  Tomorrow night is the sophomore game, which got me thinking back to the freshman game from a year ago, and our big win, so I made a layout tonight.  Last year as freshmen, the boys won 26-7.  I'm hoping for the same type of game tomorrow night!  The title of the layout may seem a bit harsh, but it's all part of the decades-old rivalry against the Redbirds.    :)

I used Alphalicious and MS Seasonal Cakes for the fonts.  The words TASTES and CHEWING are cut from a textured paper intended to appear as a leather football.  The only place I've ever seen the paper is at Hobby Lobby.  Redbird is made from felt letters.

All other cardstock is from Stampin' Up (as usual).  I used Old Olive, White, and Crumb Cake (which is no longer called CC).

The football paper is from one of my favorite web stores, TheScrapCabana. The redbird from 50 States.  I made the "no" symbol with George and CDS.

Fireman Birthday Frame

A few posts back, on the last Disney Pixar Blog Hop, I showed a Minnie Mouse frame layout for my niece's 2nd birthday.  This latest frame layout is for my nephew's 3rd birthday.  I've made them frame layouts for their birthdays each year, matching the party theme.  My nephew's party in May was a "fireman" theme.

The badge and fireman were cut using Everyday Paper Dolls -- no surprise, I know.  The fire truck is from Boys Will Be Boys.  EDPD had a fire truck also, but I really like the ladder and a few extra details on the truck from the Boys cart. I added eyelets to the center of the wheels, popped up the ladder, the hose, and the wheels, as well as the badge (which came from the policeman page on EDPD).  You probably recognize the cute little fireman's face, and know he's made from Peachy Keen :)  Love her stamps!  Card stock is all SU!, except for the gold metallic used for the badge, and the black swiss dot background, which is Bazzill.  Here are a couple of close-ups too.

As always, thanks for stopping by.  You know I love to read your comments, so leave me one if you have time!

Disney Pixar - Link Up Party

The same ladies who started the Disney Pixar blog hops have gone a step further so more people can be involved and are having a blog "link up party".  The is the first ever Disney Pixar Link Up Party!

This is YOUR chance to share your favorite Disney Pixar scrapbook layout, card, banner, decorations, party favors and more!  Just post your project and then link it up to the appropriate site by October 3rd, 2011.  Post as many projects as you would like, and include a link back to this post to tell others about the Link Up Party.

Scrapbook Layouts ~ Link Up HERE at Crafty Chics Blog
Cards ~ Link Up HERE at Disney Dreamer Designs
All other projects ~ Link Up HERE at Love to Crop
Here are a couple of my favorite Disney layouts . . .
We can never get enough of the Crystal Palace, with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger & Eeyore!  I made this layout following our January 2011 trip, using the Pooh cartridge and Storybook.  I used lots of SU Crystal Effects on the title, hoping to emphasize the Crystal Palace, but it's a bit hard to see in the photos.

This isn't the greatest layout, but I suppose one of my favorites because of the memories :)  On the Disney cruise, the evening shows are absolutely fantastic!  I wanted a page to reflect a few of the zillion pictures I took of the characters on stage at each show, so making lots of cuts to the pictures, I placed them inside the word DISNEY on what I intended to look like a stage.    I used Lyrical Letters and welded the words "Walt" and "Theater", used Mickey Font for DISNEY, the curtains are from Twinkletoes, with lots of stretching, and the tickets are from Locker Talk.  I can't remember what the movie/stage board is from (sorry), but as you can see, I used it for my journaling box.

I can't wait to see everyone else's layouts!  This is such a great wait to get ideas and inspiration, because I have lots of Disney trips left to scrap.

Thank you!

Thanks fellow Disney Lovers for your kind comments about my Disney Pixar Blog Hop projects.  Your encouragement is sooooo appreciated, and interest from others is so motivational to me!

A couple of people asked questions, so here are the answers:

Q: Melissa said...
I bet Baylee was super excited to get personalized artwork! What is the black Mickey head on the ribbon? Is that a button? I don't think I've seen them in black and I love it!
A:  Yes, it is a button.  I recently (~ 6 weeks) ordered them from http://www.scrapbook.com/, and ordered 2 bags because I hadn't seen them before either.  They are from Queen and Company, and come in a package with yellow, black, and red buttons.  Unfortunately, I've not found them available anywhere since this initial purchase.

Q:  Sunshine HoneyBee said...
"Like your Mickey Mouse creations. Especially like what looks like Mickey Mouse black ears brads. Where did you get the MM black ear brads?"
A:  Not sure which piece you are referring to, and it might even be the button Melissa asked about above.  The frame layout, nor the 12x12's, have any brads, but there are some Mickey head eyelets on one of the pages.

Check back for the blog candy winner.  I'll post by Tuesday night or Wednesday!

Have a Magical Day!

Day 2 - Disney Pixar Blog Hop

Welcome once again to the Disney Pixar Blog Hop!  If you arrived here from the truly amazing Melissa, you're right on track.  If not, head first to see Shawn's project, so you start at the very beginning of the blog hop, then follow the hop list.

So my first project is an 8"x10" picture frame, for my sweet niece who recently turned 2.  For she and her brother's birthdays, I make a picture frame layout to match their birthday party theme.  My niece is very into Minnie right now!
To the right the layout is shown inside the frame.

I simply welded Mickey heads for the bottom border and cut some bows too, with half of them "flipped".  The "2" is 4 layers of DSP and card stock, although it's hard to see in the photo.

I'm also sharing a few 12x12 layouts . . .

Never enough Disney layouts . . . I have years' worth of Disney trips yet to scrap ! I always use Stampin' Up cardstock, and when I'm working Disney, I use a variety of DSPs.

I've posted "Divine" layouts before, but I can't help but repeatedly scrap her.  She is so amazing to me!

Are you wondering about blog candy?  Everyone can use cricut mats it seems, so I'll be giving away a set of mats again, and a few other surprises!  To qualify, become a blog follower, if you're not already, and leave me a comment about today's project.  I'll use random.org to choose a winner by mid week.

Check out Bobbi Jo's project next!  Enjoy the hop and be sure to come back!

Just over 2 weeks til the next Original Disney Pixar Blog Hop runs again!  It's time for me to decide on blog candy. . . hmmm?  What is your favorite blog candy?  What would you like to see offered?  Just go easy on me friends - it's just me, no sponsors on this blog (hehe).  Let me know!

Upcoming Blog Hop

Yay!  I've been invited again to be part of the next Disney Pixar Blog Hop, so I better kick into gear!  Hope you can join us in September.  It's going to be an amazing showcase, without doubt, because of the talented bloggers they have invited.

As I type, I'm getting nervous, because I don't have a project in mind (yikes)!  Any suggestions?  Any thoughts on a Disney Pixar project you would like to see?

Hello Thursday

Don't forget to check out today's Hello Thursday, the second of three weekly releases of new cartridges this month.

There are six new full length cartridges announced today, and darn, they are good again!    Summer Celebrations, Autumn Celebrations, and Phrases are on my "have to have" (HTH) list already.

I was really surprised to see the latest retirement list.  I realize I'm a bit overboard on the amount of Disney I scrap, but I use Mickey Font so often, even when I'm not working on Disney.  Retirement of the Mickey Font cart probably surprised me the most, but several of the others too:  Pooh Font, Cars, Happily Ever After, Tinkerbell & Friends, and Dinosaur Tracks.  Better grab them soon if any are on your HTH list.

Have a great weekend everyone.  No scrapping for me as we're out of town again for a 16U baseball tourny.  As much as I love my scrapping time, I love watching my DS and his buddies play ball too!

Cricut-tastic Award

It's a magical day!  Not only did I find out earlier that I won blog candy, but I received this "Cricut-tastic" award from Tiffany of Sparkled Memories.  I feel so lucky, and so grateful to Tiffany.  Be sure to check out her beautiful cards!

The award rules:   Your Blog has been deemed Cricut-tastic! Wear this Badge proudly on your Blog and share it with friends! Since Cricut is 5 years old and they have an E2 out, share this award with 10 people that you think have Cricut-tastic Blogs! You also have to tell 5 Cricut related things about yourself.

1.  I first purchased the baby bug, then purchased the E within just a couple of months.
2.  I can't remember the last layout where I didn't use my Cricut.
3.  I'm totally addicted to Cricut Design Studio.
4.  I've only used my Gypsy one time (because I prefer DS)!
5.  Regarding Cricut cartridges, there are no "wants", they are all "needs" :)

I'll be back in the next day or two to pass the Cricut-tastic Award to 10 blogger friends.  I need a little time to chirp this over :)

Holey smokes, Kim! I'm glad I had just refilled my coffee cup when I reached your blog! All of your layouts are spectacular! I have always regretted not going to one of the Disney parks when my son was young but we felt that private school was more important so we never had the money for a trip like that. You got some really great pictures! Just wonderful... all of it. And I looked at every single picture too! I'm so glad to have found you during this hop and I'm a follower now.
