Sweetest daisy in the bunch

For this week’s Scrappy Saturday’s with the Bug Challenge, it’s “Spring with a twist of green”.  This photo has been displayed in our house since DD was only 3 1/2 years old, and she’s 13 now.  It’s always been one of my favorites, so I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to scrap it!  I love how dirty her chubby little hands are, wrapped around the sand bucket, and I remember how much fun she was having picking the daisies, just like it was yesterday!

Sweetest in the bunch is cut from Alphalicious, using SU’s Whisper White and Pixie Pink.  “Daisy” is cut from Walk in my Garden, using SU Summer Sun and Whisper White.  The daisies are from Don Juan, welded and flipped using Design Studio.  The stems are SU Gable Green.  The scallop layers behind each photo are from Hannah Montana, and the picket fence (4 welded sections) is from Songbird.  The silouette is from A Child's Year.  The DSPs are from Doodlebug, the background is “Flutterby” on the left,  “All a Flutter" on the right.  The ribbon and brads are Dear Lizzy “Lively”.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Pangani Trail

The silverback on the Pangani Trail was totally posing for us this time.  I could watch him and the others for hours!

Jungle Fever was cut from Animal Kingdom.  There aren’t layers in it, so I had to cut it 3 times to get the look.  I cut the bamboo is from Life Is a Beach.  All cardstock and DSP is from SU.  My journaling is done on the letter “O” from Life Is a Beach.

More Kilimanjaro Safari

Another layout from the safari.  The pics are from this past January (2011).  We cannot get enough of the Disney Parks.  Great family time.
Paper is all Stampin Up.  I tore cardstock to create the path. I found the Mickey head ribbon with leopard ears on eBay!  Isn’t is awesome???  I got several different Disney ribbons that I’ve never seen before, all from the same seller.  If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll try to find the info on eBay.
Cartridges used:  Create a Critter for the pond and grasses, Animal Kingdom for the word JUNGLE, Hannah Montana for the title, Summer Vacation for the “jeep”.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Kilimanjaro Safari

Scrap Cabana March 2011 015
Our family LOVES the safari.  It’s a different experience every time.  You never know which aninals you're gong to see or how close to you they’re going to wander.  Great pictures every time - - our kids always fight over the camera.  I’m just glad they want to take the pictures, so I can just focus on watching!

The textured giraffe paper is from Hobby Lobby.  I cut the center out and left a 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" frame, then mounted it on SU Very Vanilla.  I found the safari paper on the web somewhere.  Not sure of the site because I’ve had it for a couple of years.  The rest of the paper/cardstock is SU, of course
I purchased the “Jungle Cruisin” die cut from Archivers, and just had to assemble it.  The die cut is from The Paper Wizard.  Die cuts are a couple of dollars cheaper on the creator's site than at Archivers.  There are so many, it's unbelievable!  Here is the site:  http://paperwizard.stores.yahoo.net/junglecruisin.html

Cartridges used:  Animal Kingdom and Pooh & Friends (just for the sign).

Disney’s Animal Kingdom layout, Tree of Life - It's Tough to be a Bug

Last weekend was spent in Aurora, IL at a Scrap Cabana retreat.  Three days of scrapping, very little sleep, and a lot of laughs.  Bestie and me even managed to turn out some layouts we’re proud of!
I created the “Tree of Life” from Pooh and Friends.  Took a little bit of time to “hide selected contour” on the door and window of the tree house, but it was worth it.  Monkeys are from New Arrival, and Mickey font was used for “Animal Kingdom”, and “eyes”.  On the right page, Flik and Atta were cut from Best of Pixar, as well as the leaves, one at 5” and one at 6”, and the word “bug”.  The nasty black bugs were cut from A Child's Year -- can you believe that?  (yuck). Hip Hop and Modern Dance Layout

Finally wrapping up the dances and costumes from the 2009 recital.  I haven’t even started the pages from the 2010 recital, yet the 2011 recital is only 2 months away.  I’ll never catch up, but that’s OK I guess.  Hoping I don’t run out of ideas too soon!

I used a few rub-ons on this layout too, and Stampin’ Up’s eyelet punch.  The colors are Stampin Up in colors from 2009/2010, Dusty Durango and Bermuda Bay.  Why do I use so much SU?  First I love the quality of the products, secondly, the fact that the cardstock, ribbon, markers, chalks, designer paper, and ink (which I only used for sponging on this layout) all match perfect.  I love Stampin Up!

A strange color combination I know, but my goal was to make the two costumes (I had remaining to scrap) work in a layout together.  The hip hop costume was busy enough, so I figured I could get away with solid cardstock and went that route for both sides of the layout, just reversing everything on the right page. I was extremely happy with the turnout!

Tap Dance Duet

DD chooses a solo to perform each year, and sometimes a duet also.  A friend asked her to dance to Madonna’s Material Girl, which turned out to be the cutest duet ever!  Making a layout as cute as the costumes and the dance was a challenge!
All paper is Stampin Up except for the black striped background on the left layout.  Initials “hlb” are Thickers, I’m not sure of the brand on the black and red polka-dot ribbons-I believe they are from JoAnn.

Jazz Dance layout

I struggled with a layout for these Jazz dance photos – probably because my daughter truly hated the costume so much, I couldn’t get thru the mental block to create cute pages!  I ended up using black “bubbly” paper and leopard paper, both from Hobby Lobby, gold shimmery paper for the “Super Star” die cut, and real red from Stampin Up to mount the photos and Jazz title.  The leopard ribbon is just a spool from Walmart, the solid black ribbon and black brads are from Stampin Up.  I purchased the word “JAZZ” from www.laserline.com

Photos are backed in SU cardstock.  “Make Some Noise” is cut from Alphalicious.  Flowers on the Theater dance page are felt flowers from Stampin Up.  Reminisce dance stickers.  Glitter paper (pink) from CropChocolate.
